Embark on an 8-day journey exploring the southern Atlantic coast of Morocco, a region known for its warm climate, serene beaches, and authentic maritime atmosphere. From the UNESCO-listed medina of Essaouira, considered the symbolic gateway to the southern coast, the route continues through charming fishing towns, wild beaches, and natural viewpoints shaped by the Atlantic winds. Destinations like Agadir, the region’s main leisure hub, and its surrounding villages offer a balance of relaxation, scenery and local culture. Thanks to the refreshing Atlantic sea breeze, the area is also perfect for outdoor activities such as kitesurfing and coastal walks.
This 8-day circular tour starting and ending in Marrakech combines coastal beauty with cultural discovery. While it is lighter in monuments than other routes, travelers will still enjoy fascinating historical sites in Essaouira, Sidi Ifni, and Agadir. The program also includes free time in Marrakech, making it ideal for those who already know the city but wish to revisit a museum, monument or souk at their own pace. With 8 days and 7 nights of travel, this itinerary offers the perfect blend of nature, culture and relaxation along Morocco’s captivating Atlantic coastline.
Marrakech Menara International Airport will be your gateway to Morocco. And here the staff of our agency will be waiting for you: with a private vehicle, our driver will meet you at the terminal and will make the transfer to the hotel-riad in the center of Marrakech.
Depending on the time of arrival, there may be free time for a leisurely stroll through the medina or any other part of the city. And in the evening, you will rest in your accommodation to start the next day’s route with energy.
After breakfast at the riad-hotel, you will meet our driver-guide to start the scheduled road trip. We will head towards Essaouira, through the highway that connects it with Marrakech.
On this route we can make a stop at a cooperative in the region, dedicated to the traditional production of argan oil, as these trees are numerous in the area, as will be seen on both sides of the road.
After this interesting stop along the way, we will continue on to Essaouira, which centuries ago was known as Mogador. That was the name given to it by the Portuguese, who left their undisputed mark here in the form of a maritime fortress (Skala). The city also preserves an interesting medina and echoes of a mellah (Jewish quarter), so it will be worthwhile to stroll freely through the historic center.
Its beaches and its gastronomic and musical offer are other attractions that you can take into account to plan your free time, following our suggestions, if you consider it appropriate. And in the evening, you will rest in a charming riad, located in the medina.
The third day of this circuit along the Atlantic coast gradually takes us away from the big civilization to get closer to coastal environments of true peace and tranquility. We will appreciate it in the first big stop of the day: Sidi Kaouki, a small village bathed by the sea, where small wild beaches are formed. Weather permitting, we will leave plenty of time for a refreshing dip.
The next town on the route is also not famous for mass tourism: Imsouane. However, it does enjoy great popularity among surf lovers, as it is home to some of the best spots for surfers. And if we add to that the charm of locals in the port and on the seafront, where a magnificent fresh fish is cooked, the stop we make here will be more than justified.
After a delicious lunch, so difficult to find in other destinations in Morocco, we will continue our journey by road. In this case, we will momentarily leave the company of the sea and cross the argan fields that separate Imsouane from Taghazout. To admire this small coastal enclave, we will wait for the next day, after spending the night in a charming riad.
On this fourth day of the circuit, we will dedicate the first few hours to take a walk around Taghazout, a charming village that is experiencing a great development, thanks to its unbeatable conditions for sun and beach tourism. In fact, if the weather is suitable, there will be the opportunity to enjoy a swim in its beaches. In addition, strolling through its narrow streets, where you can breathe a hippie and sailor atmosphere, will be a most pleasant experience.
After that, we will return to our car to continue driving south. And our next stop will be very close to Mirleft, at Legzira Beach, one of the most beautiful beaches in Morocco… and in the whole continent. Its sandstone rock arch makes it very special, and its very large sandy area offers enough space for a moment of true relaxation.
You will be able to spend the afternoon bathing without haste, because the hotel for tonight is not too far away: in Sidi Ifni to be precise. This town is surprising for its Spanish past until the twentieth century, and some vestiges and memories of it can still be seen. Nowadays, it has been oriented to tourism with high quality lodgings, such as the one we will use for this day’s rest.
Sidi Ifni is the southernmost point of this 8-day tour of Morocco’s Atlantic coast. And when we resume the road route on this fifth day, we will take the road back to Marrakech. But in this case, we will stop in different locations to enrich the route.
During the morning we will stop in Tiznit, a small town in the region recently founded (late nineteenth century) but since then has managed to carve out a reputation as a center producer of silver objects, mainly jewelry and swords. Its initiators were the Jewish silversmiths who lived here at that time, and today its inhabitants have maintained this tradition, as we will be able to appreciate during our visit.
After that, we will continue by road to Agadir, the great city of the region and the true epicenter of holiday tourism in Morocco. The afternoon will be free for a first contact with the city and its beaches, and the night’s rest will be in a comfortable hotel by the sea.
The sixth day is probably the most relaxing and de-stressing of the whole circuit, as it is conceived as a free day. In this way, you will be able to decide how to spend your time. Of course, the main proposal and attraction is the beach: here you will find large and wide bathing areas, with fine sand and well equipped with services.
The city had to be almost completely rebuilt after the 1960 earthquake, so it lacks major historical monuments. But those who wish to add a leisure proposal can take a ride on the modern cable car, which offers panoramic views from the mountain that rises next to the city, or organize a gastronomic, commercial or recreational plan in its seaport.
In the evening, you will stay in the same comfortable hotel as the day before.
Agadir and Marrakech are very well connected by a freeway. So on this seventh day of the tour, we will travel in the morning from one to the other to reach Marrakech in just three hours. This way, you will be able to enjoy a good part of the day at leisure in Marrakech.
Doing the latest traditional or luxury shopping, visiting monuments or unknown corners of the city, tasting the Moroccan gastronomy in its many locals or simply strolling through the gardens of the ‘red city’ are presented as the main plans. But you can consult us for ideas for this penultimate day of the circuit.
The eighth is the last day of the circuit. Based on your flight schedule, we will decide how to organize the day after breakfast: there may be some additional free time, or we will transfer you by private vehicle to Marrakech Menara Airport without further delay. Thus, you will conclude our services in this tour, which is distinguished for being one of the most relaxed and surprising of our catalog.
